Default Shatter Enchantments

Recently I've been trying to solo FoW with a N/Mo build I found somewhere. The basic premise is the same as the 55 Necro build, but use vigorous spirit instead of Guardian to cover up HB and PS.

The problem comes in when I get to mesmers (yes, I haven't gotten very far with this lol). The Shadow Mesmers have 15 Domination Magic, meaning that when the cast Shatter Enchantment on you, you take 100hp damage. Obviously, this slaughters my 55.

What I'm wondering is: Is there a way to drop the amount of damage taken from Shatter Enchantment? Or is there something I'm not considering? Lately, I've ALMOST been successful by running out of range of the mesmer as soon as I've timed his shatter enchantment attempts. But I can't always get out of the way.

So if anyone who has successfully solo'd FoW with this build could provide some much needed advice (apart from 'don't solo FoW you noob'), it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not sure but I think it involves "cover enchantments" to cover Protective Spirit

Yeah... agreed, which is where vigorous spirit comes in. My question really is about how to reduce the 100hp points of damage that the mesmer's Shatter Enchantments deals. Cos I take the full 100hp of damage and die.

Protective Spirit will reduce the damage from Shatter Enchantment to 5 points. The idea is to make Spirit Bond shattered instead Protective Spirit so always make sure that when you cast Protective Spirit, cast Spirit Bond after that and always keep it up. When mesmer shatters it, you have 25 seconds until it will shatter it again.

The last casted enchantment will be always shattered first.

Your PS got shattered, that's all there is to it.

Too bad you are not a Mo/N.

Otherwise Watchful Spirit would be considered. But then again, I think damage takes first over the healing when WS is removed.

You're using the old prophecies fow build. So you're just going to have to adjust the time frame that you get your cover enchants over PS before the shatter occurs.

Instead of renewing everything @ 20 seconds and waiting for the shatter as in my guide for updated build, you're going to have to start a little earlier @15-17 seconds, PS,HB, VS in that order. Healing breeze should be blinking when the shatter happens on VS. If healing breeze runs out before no worries since vig spirit lasts 30 secs, just recast let the breeze take the shatter and recast breeze.

Keep insidious parasite on the warrior. It makes a world of difference when your tanking 2 ele's and 1 mesmer and catch the shatter enchant while in the burning phase of incendiary bonds and have 1-2 firestorms raining on your head.

Watchful spirit too costly for a cover enchant, and ya you'll still get killed.

Switch to a staff or weapon/offhand that's not the -50 cesta until the shatter occurs, then switch back. The PS + HB + VS will keep you alive until the shatter hits, then quickly change to the weapon/-50 cesta. I do this from time to time just to be safe, but most times burying the PS works.

PS reduces the damage of the shatter if you cast it right. Cast PS THEN cast Vigorous Spirit. If it is shattered, immedialetly cast, if possible PS followed by, Vigorous Spirit. Your effect bar should be something like this:

[Meh][Meh2][Protective Spirit][Vigirous Spirit]

Then they Shatter, PS is still on, so you get reduced damage:

[Meh][Meh2][Protective Spirit]

Then cast again:

[Meh][Meh2][Protective Spirit][Vigorous Spirit]

Have fun
